unforgettable

A few weeks ago my mom, sister, and I got to do something we've been wanting to do for years.  We got to have our own girl's weekend, no kids, no husbands, no interruptions.  It was better than I could have hoped for.  Traci kept my boys and I was free for over 24 hours. Heaven.

Mom, Michaela, and I get along like best friends.  We are quirky and have a similar sense of humor and we just get each other laughing and laughing.  We talk and giggle, and act like a bunch of college girls.  I couldn't think of anyone I would rather spend time with.  My mom has wanted to get together with her girls for the longest time and we finally figured it out.  We got tickets to see the new Celtic Woman  concert.  I have been wanting to see their concert for years.  Truly amazing voices, heavenly and angelic.

We headed up to Salt Lake City and enjoyed a delicious dinner.  After dinner we walked to the concert and sat anxiously in our seats.  From the first beat of the drum we were hooked.  I could not have enjoyed that concert a bit more.  It was absolutely amazing, and there are no words to describe the acoustics, beauty, talent, and entertainment in those two hours.  It was breathtaking and inspirational.  I was smiling so big the entire time.  There were funny parts, parts that we clapped and tapped our feet, inspiring songs that brought tears, and again, unbelievable talent.  I was in awe the entire time.  Experiencing it with my mom and sister only made it that much better.  They enjoyed it every bit as much as I did.
After the concert we went to our hotel.  My poor mom was sick and I was so happy she wasn't sick during the concert.  It was the only damper on the whole weekend.  She was a trooper though and we enjoyed our little slumber party.  We got up the next day and headed over to the new outdoor Salt Creek Mall in Salt Lake City.  It was so much fun.  I love outdoor malls and this one definitely took the cake.  I loved the variety of shopping, the architecture, the nature incorporated throughout, and the fountains could have kept me mesmerized all day.  We didn't really even buy anything, but just walked around enjoying a beautiful, sunny, spring day.  Definitely a place I will be visiting again and again.
I truly feel blessed to be part of a family that gets along and loves each other so much. I am sure that in many ways we are not unique, but I also realize that there are people in the world that only dream of having such a close relationship with their family.  I have always been especially close with my Mom; we are almost the same person just with 25 years age difference.  We think the same and act the same. We are so much alike and I couldn't be more grateful for the example she has been to me throughout my life.  My sister and I have different interests and talents, but we get along like best friends.  No one can get me laughing like she can. She is beautiful, inside and out, and inspires me with her kindness.  I could never imagine anything better than what I have in my family.  I am so grateful for this unforgettable weekend we got to spend together, just the three of us. I hope we can make it a tradition.

Sounds SO fun and bonding!!! So glad you got to get away and I can totally relate to all the laughing. It seems like when we all get together with your Mom we laugh all the time too. Then when we reminisce we laugh again. So fun!!! You 3 are the cutest group. what a blessing you have in each other.
